QUADS ONLY: What do you enjoy doing or what makes you happy?

I know from experience there's not a whole lot of fun things we can actually do or participate in, but what are 3 things you enjoy doing that excite you, makes you feel good and/or happy?
For me it's playing poker & fantasy football for real money, driving, and girls!

    How about you?

Playing cards (sheepshead), traveling with family and friends, cooking, shopping. I guess I do more than I thought. Thanks for making me think about it.

Bird watching, reading, anything my wife and I do together. I used to enjoy watching the Browns play football.

I think you will find that that is not true for many people on these forums. Do you participate in any sports (quad rugby, swimming, sailing, power soccer, etc. etc. etc.). What did you used to do that you can't do now (in a different way)??

I agree completely. Was injured in 94, started business in 97. As or more successful than others ran by able bodied individuals. Have enjoyed life for the most part. Follow your passions and challenge yourself.

Certainly not not claiming any of this is easy or judging in any way. Just hope you don't limit yourself assuming that's the only option.

All of my passions are no longer possible, boxing, kickboxing, powerlifting, explosive power training, fucking, fighting, joining the infantry etc. Sure I can put on a pair of boxing gloves, literally tap with all my might a punching bag and use wrist weights but in no way is that actually boxing or powerlifting I wouldn't even consider comparable to weightlifting the way that I enjoy, love actually. But it's the fact that I live for those things, and that I will not give up on my passions so easily because I bump my spinal cord and someone says "focus on what you can do not what you cant do" as if the options are numerous and comparable. Are why I continue to pursue, spread the word for A treatment and that I continue to prevent decay of my body as much as possible... Almost nobody seems to do that in our situation efficiently. If But if I have one more person tell me about quad rugby, mostly because for my level it's really the only sport that I could actually do semi-independently, thing is if I liked or even slightly enjoyed rugby I would've continue to do it when I was able bodied, obviously leading to me doing it after disability, but I don't... Also the fact that most other players are going to be better than me not because they work harder, train harder or are just naturally more gifted in the sport then me but because they have more bodily function than me, and no matter the amount of practice, dedication is going to change that, always be a one pointer basically a pylon for incompletes , and C6s and below Completely takes out the sport for me.

To Answer your question though drinking/ partying, watching movies (Specter was amazing), being lucky enough to live A time where I can see and read about experimental trials on humans that are actually showing slight promise. Keeps me away from that bullshit mentality it's impossible accept it (tbh like a few people I know that would never be me either way) Vegas is dope too, substantially better if you're healthy with good sexual function obviously (no I don't just have escorts in mind) but a gimp can still get to some damn good fun. Fact you'll see quite a few of them in the casinos, didn't see one in The strip clubs or nightclubs which is all I did haha. Highly recommend, if you do though seriously be careful in the crowded chair and I are almost went in the pool. Trust me you do not want to be the cripple that has to get up like a fish water in front of hundreds no no...

I'm assuming you guys are talking about online poker, at least for those of us no hand function? Anyone actually make good money with that? People make damn good living with it.

C3 vented and can't do anything I used to do even allowing for adaptions. Prior to my accident I was a cyclist, worked in bike industry and out almost every day riding, no hand movement now so can't hand cycle. Sailed skiffs and twin trap dinghies so used to having main/kite and planing up wind, keel boat holds little appeal, windsurfed as well, once again loved the speed. Loved cars/motorbikes, had just replaced my Porsche 911 with a new Boxter S and had a Ducati sportbike and BM GSA for touring. I was addicted to speed no matter what the toy. That can't be replaced, nothing I can do gets anywhere near close to the adrenaline rush I'd get. Bought a Molten Rock Boma 7 off road wheelchair last year but we are still struggling with how to steer it, head control bounces too much and is non proportional and chin control end up with controller being shoved into my trache. Have managed a few technical DH trails with it and scared myself and carers with what it is capable of.

Only thing that still gives me a buzz is working. Left my old employer after the accident and now self employed and competing with them. Getting out to mountain biking events or trade shows is always good to catch up with friends in the business.

My fianc?e and I have a Jeep Wrangler that we take off-road with friends. We enjoy concerts, a few movies, date nights and Packer football. We have season tickets. Once our local gun range is open, we will be back shooting. We love traveling!
