Another cool crip friendly 2 door performance car coming up next year...

Interesting times if you are in the market for 2 door cars. If you are looking for performance (i.e., a nice V-8 powered car), right now you are kind of see-sawing between the GTO (with strange short doors that dont open much) and the Mustang (small). But now for 2006 a refreshed Monte Carlo is coming out with a 5.3L V-8 pushing just over 300HP . Same nice big 2 door with wide opening big doors, but now with some balls and a styling update. Should be really cool!

That car makes me wish I didn't have car payments on my Saturn and had forced my ole' crappy Ford Escort to go for another year! Damn that fourth cylinder that blew ... lol.

    Pretty nice.

Are they incoporating the same 4 cylinder cutout that Chevy has in the trucks? Think it's awesome they've got the tech to do that now, but it's still too early to tell how it'll hold up. Either way, 5.3, it's the same displacement as the new generation Chevy truck models isn't it? That's kickass, finally the Monte is going back to it's roots with V8 power.

It seems like it, they are saying it will have that 'displacement on demand'. One thing I am wondering about will be ride harshness with the 18" wheels they say the SS will have. I changed my '03 SS wheels from 16" to 17" wheels and noticed a change in the ride. 18" wheels will have even less sidewall to cushion the ride, but I suppose with some shock tuning it might be ok. At any rate, it is a really interesting car, I just might pull the trigger on one providing they dont price it at $35K or something .
