laptop touchpad alternative

I know that this question was previously answered but I have to open a new thread.

I'm a quad which doesn't move any finger and writes with two sticks. In the last 10 years I've used mostly laptops because of the touchpad support. The problem is that after about 2-3 years I have to change them because the clicks fails to work.

I'm thinking to switch to a apple trackpad, but I'm curios to know if any of you can give me a feedback?

Or maybe some of you have a better idea. If you do, please share it.

I am a quad who types with 2 sticks as well. I have used MouseKeys on a regular keyboard for 14+ years. Works for Windows and on OS X.

For my laptop, I use a SmartNav head mouse for cursor control and an old recline switch to use as my left and right clicking. (it plugs into a stereo jack on the Smart Nav) I also, with the help of my dad, build a sip & puff switch for about 1/4 of the price of a regular S&P switch.
