The Pan American Games are the world's third largest international multi-sport Games, behind only the Olympic Summer Games and the Asian Games. Thousands of athletes from North America, South America, Latin America, and the Caribbean have converged in Toronto to compete in 36 Pan Am sports from July 10-26, and thousands more athletes with disabilities will meet from August 7-15 to compete in 15 Parapan Am sports.

Since the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) was enacted in 2005, it has made great strides toward making the province fully accessible by 2025. However, Parapan Am athletes and spectators with disabilities can expect to encounter Toronto's many remaining accessibility hurdles when exploring the city.
