Negative health effects of sitting too much

I've seen a few articles on this topic before, but never thought to post about it. Just came across another one today, basically saying that, while daily exercise helps mitigate things, if we spend most of the day sitting, we're still subject to some pretty deleterious health effects.

So, something I've always wondered when I come across these things: what is it that we, as SCI individuals, who spend their days in wheelchair, can do about this?

I think the standing frame would be the only option here that would work, because all the other ones are still only sporadic/temporary respites from spending most of our day sitting... (unfortunately, I can't use a standing frame anymore given my lack of flexion)

Are you able to lie on your stomach at all during the day?

I vote at a tech company, in front of a computer, so unfortunately not much of an option there either :/ (I can't think of many jobs that would allow for that, though)

I guess im lucky because I worked for the same company for 26 years and I was there before my accident but if i need to lay down or just rest they are more then willing to let me. Of course it wasn't for hrs just enough time to stretch and let my legs and back relax.
