This is exactly what the media is doing with Amy Van Dyken, using her as "Inspiration Porn"
While it's now only beginning to be discussed (preaching largely to the choir), inspiration porn is not going away. Ever.
The "Inspirational Porn" post leads me back to a piece I wrote concerning using PWDs in TV commercials as everyday consumers of the product/service being hawked. These would not be actors chosen for commercials because they have a visible disability, but that they represent a sizeable population who spend their hard earned money the same as ABs, who do not have a lock on consumerism.
This is not inspirational porn, but slices of life, that do not focus on disability. I fail to grasp the reasoning behind not having PWDs in commercials or the silence of our population in not demanding our share of exposure.
