Would you rather be stuck at home 8 months out of the year due to cold weather and feet of snow?

I'm moving to Florida this year, looking for good suburbs around Orlando or Orlando itself. Redfin...

How about southern California? The weather is the most moderate in the country. If you own, you will likely make money on the property. In Florida the property may not appreciate. The counties along the southern California shore will be too expensive to buy a large lot. But inland you can get great deals.

I was considering South Carolina at some point when I care less about property value appreciation and more about cost of living. In other words, when I officially call myself old. People with SCIs don't pay property tax. In general, cost of living is less.

I stayed in Carlsbad, California about 30 miles north of San Diego for about three months back in 2010. I don't like how uneven the terrain is and plenty of hills and mountains.
I loved the weather but the prices for homes are just too expensive same with gas and even grocery prices

So Cal is diverse. Travel 30 minutes and the terrain and weather both change. There are many flat areas even within the hilly areas. For example, Newport Beach is hilly but next to it are Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach, which are all so flat you may find it boring. Areas that are flat and more affordable include San Fernando Valley, and Inland Empire. But they're pretty hot. Temecula is a hidden gem with a good mix of flatness, affordability, moderate weather, and wineries and Casinos for entertainment.

Just wondering, how many other states in the US allow SCI's to be property tax exempt?

    Virginia does.

Gotta check the fine though. Some states it is just a deferred tax program. Once you die, or sell the house, your estate owes all the taxes that were deferred.

VA is a full waiver for the fully disabled, with taxable income under a certain threshold, and various degree of % relief as income rises, up to ~$100,000 a year. They also look at assets. Have to have less than $500-600K IIRC, to qualify.

I live in Orlando, too. Summers are quite rough, though I still hang out outside a lot, though it's in a garage out of the sun.
Another great benefit is if you have "Crippy" hands (that's what I call my hands), you can get free tolls.
