    Accessible Boat

Mike Mayes is building accessible boats and trying to raise enough $ to show them at the Abilities Expos this year. Please go by and check out his site... Kickstarter Program.

    Thanks.

What kind of price is he putting on them? At least at first glance, they appear to be just a stripped down pontoon boat.

The fine print as you scroll down says $9995.00. I need one that can be accessed from our slip and I can handle. The spouse wants to do the sun and beer while I drive. Oh, and it sounds like you would get hit with a large transfer cost as we are both east of the Rockies.

I believe that style of boat is called a clamshell. I live on a lake and have pontoon boat w widened front gate to accommodate chair width. I use a dock that is ramp like and can be adjusted up/down according to lake level. The dock is on wheels and is rolled out to protect from winter ice, it attaches to a short stationary dock also ramped. We selected a side of the lake relatively flat, added a sidewalk from house to lake then wheel up dock onto pontoon.
