    Manage your bowels with Peristeen

    Anyone used this???

    From there web site....

Peristeen empties the bowel by introducing water into the bowel using a rectal catheter. It is performed while sitting on the toilet. The water is then emptied from the bowel, along with the stool, into the toilet. The lower part of the bowel is emptied so efficiently that most users only have to irrigate every other day.

Used routinely, Peristeen may help reduce the physical discomfort and mental worry of bowel leakage and constipation, making it easier to take part in social activities, go to work or travel.

    How expensive is this?

I just started using Peristeen a couple of weeks ago and so far I'm very pleased with the results. The system with 2 catheters runs about $215 USD, while the accessory kit with 15 catheters runs about $350 USD.

Wow, $350.00 to use the toilet 15 times, not cheap.

I've read most people re-use them until they pop. I've been re-using one for the last two weeks and hoping my accessory kit shows up before this one pops. I popped my first one because I didn't switch the dial correctly. Now that was a surprise ! It sounds like they'll work for about 2-4 weeks, so about a years worth. I'm hoping to find a cheaper source, but that's it for now until they get a little more readily available. I'm currently getting them shipped from Australia which takes about two weeks for $35. It really has changed everything for me.

Stephen212 tried the Peristeen a couple of years ago, and found that an enema system worked just as well, and about 1/3 the cost (if I remember correctly) and was able to reuse the insertion catheter numerous times. I'll see if I can find the post...
