GRAND OPENING, SATURDAY 29TH MARCH 2014
76 MAHONEYS ROAD, THOMASTOWN, VICTORIA

OUR VISION
Our vision is to provide internationally recognised recovery programs to all individuals with spinal injuries to obtain a greater quality of life and independence.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to serve as an industry leader in pro- viding an evidence-based recovery model for individuals with spinal cord injuries. The ability to recover from spinal cord injuries is vastly greater than is currently recognised. By utilising the latest research and recovery options, in conjunction with contributing to the scientific literature, The Next Step Spinal Cord Injury Recovery will provide the best option for clients to obtain greater function and quality of life, whilst providing well needed support for the family and carers.
ABOUT US
The Next Step Spinal Cord Injury Recovery is a not- for-profit association that has been established by a community of people affected by Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) both personally and indirectly.
This community recognised the lack of support and knowledge that follows the injury, and banded together to raise funds with the objective of establishing a world class spinal cord injury recovery facility offering proven methods and exercise therapy to support both the physical and psychological aspect of affected individuals and their families.
We have recently made a giant step forward and taken possession of a building that will become the home of The Next Step. It will be open for business on the Monday 31st March 2014.
Principally, an injured individual?s first interaction with medical care is through the hospital system, which is focused first and foremost on stabilizing and securing the safety of the injured individual. It is often difficult for the current system to alone pro- vide spinal cord injury patients the intensity and long term care required for optimal recovery.
A NEW WAY
Accumulating scientific research highlights the benefits of therapeutic intervention and support that is individually tailored, appropriately intense and ongoing.
We intend to work with the current medical sys- tem in order to provide the best possible outcome as quickly as possible. We have learned that every moment spent without this form of support, encouragement and therapy is precious time lost.
