    Realism and optimism

I am only eight months in but some days I feel very optimistic about my recovery and other days I thinkI should be realistic and accept things the way they are.I know it's a slow process but how do you walk the fine line between optimism and realism?

Good question. I can't help but think the only realistic approach to a decent post-SCI quality of life, 8 months or 8 years out, IS optimism. That, and perhaps a healthy dose of Patience. For yourself and the world around you. Both of these are easily assaulted by our condition, which makes them a challenge. No doubts about that! Good luck!
