    Air Gauge for Roho by John Crow

    i have been battling a pressure sore on right ishum for 5 years. wound care drs. would say it's all healed but the first time up i would know from sweats and spasms that things were not right. the wound healed but had multiple tunneling. finally found a wound care nurse that had a clue and after the 5th try i (knock on wood) 95% fixed. sitting on a Roho Quadtro that i bought off ebay. Quadtro function does not work so i'm basically sitting on a single cell Roho. been a quad for 36 years. my first cushion was a Roho and within a year i had my first pressure sore. swore i would never have another Roho. it was not Roho's fault, it was user error. my mother was my main care giver and could not master the Roho that needed checked often for the correct air pressure. nor did she grasp the consequences and severity of a pressure sore until i actually got one. swore i'd never use another Roho.
    over the next 25+ years used various cushions and had 2 more sores. in each case i became complacent with the cushion and did not keep check of them - all gel. this last sore was from a jay2 that went flat. again my fault for not checking the cushion EVERY DAY.
    Now, i have purchased 1 of almost every standard cushion - stimulite contour, classic. evolution, jay2 overfilled. and the Roho. when i first started getting up i used the S contours and classic, love them for posture but after 2 hours they started irritating the sore. switched S classic and after 4 hours sore got irritated. tried varilite evolution but my posture with it and jay was terrible. so back 360 to Roho. i still have my 77 year old mother as main caregiver. i just find it hard to use the 2 finger method. needed that Roho so i decided to buy the Pressure Gauge that John Crow makes for the Roho. Yes, the method recommended by Roho is great if you are capable but myself. i would not have the comfort level that i have now if it was not for John Crow's Pressure Gauge. i have no monetary reasons for endorsing this product. just peace of mind and a sore less butt. donnie wyatt

    Could you post a link? I googled "John Crow Pressure Gauge for Roho" and nothing came back except your thread on Care Cure.

    I have one and it works great. About every 2 to 3 weeks we pump up the cushion, zero the gauge, measure the air presure and reset my cushion to where I like it.
    C 5/6 Comp.
    No Tri's or hand function.

    Far better it is to try mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure. Than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much or suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory or defeat.

    From my reading of the information, you need to be pressure mapped on the cushion by a seating specialist/professional (not so easy to find a good one) and then the gauge helps to keep you within the range identified by the specialist.

    John is about the same weight as me and I tried his setting and it worked for me. One could just measure the finger way and then use the gauge to find the numbers. We set mine at .6
    C 5/6 Comp.
    No Tri's or hand function.
