    Power chair thru private insurance?

Anyone have a clue as to how long I should expect to wait before I get a power chair thru WellMark? Already been "evaluated"...both OT and DME rep said, in their opinion, I certainly qualify.

Legs are getting weaker, and insurance won't pay for more PT until I do get the chair.

No experience with WellMark, but my last power chair took about three months after my doctor and my PT wrote the justification letter. That was after several weeks of "evaluation." And I was simply replacing my eight year old chair. That was with Cigna.

Oh, they had a "preferred vendor" policy, which meant I had to go to their vendor first. Didn't work out for me so they eventually allowed the vendor suggested by my PT.

I'm on Medicare now and I shudder to think how long it will take with them.

Actually, my home care case worker told me just yesterday that if Medicare was my primary, I'd have the chair in a couple of weeks.
