    haiku

when originally trained in martial arts so many years ago we were expected to also learn sumi, ikebana, ocha, haiku. Wrote this for a friend, hope you like it. Classical kaiku is quite demanding structure wise though short

I always enjoy your art, your pictures and now this.

Apropos of nothing, have you read Ooka Shohei's Fires on the Plain? It's a book that I find myself rereading with new eyes every few years.

I love haiku, but am more familiar with English haiku than Japanese. Here is one I wrote many years ago:

    Sun on verdant grass
    Fingers tangle deeply weave
    Frantic ants run out
    (KLD)

    Sun rays warmth enjoyed
    Damned fire ants
