    When Does It STOP!

Ok so I've been on here bitching for awhile first about pain which has eased some thank god. Then about crapping my pants constantly so in September I got A colostomy bag.
All this time I've had problems peeing while sitting up so after some test my urologist has scheduled me for a spincterotomy April 4.. In the meantime every time I start to pee while sitting up I start sweating so bad I can't stand it!

So now I'm scheduled for a Foley catheter insertion on Saturday in hopes that my AD won't be so bad. Now to top things off I got a new cushion two weeks ago and everything was fine until yesterday. Now I have two red marks on my ASS that don't want to go away.

    WHEN DOES IT STOP!!!

Well it's 4:30pm and I'm probably headed off to bed shortly in hopes that this AD will stop or ease up after I'm laying down. Nope don't have stones and just finished a round of antibiotics three or four days ago for a uti.

Lord I hope someone out there is having a good day :-)
p.s anyone with a foley have tips I should be aware of?

So did you change to a different cushion or bought a new one you that you currently sit on? I use a jay2 cushion and when I bought a new one, the gel was so hard, it took a couple months for it to settle. So far I've been lucky with no ass problems. Sorry for your rough time.

Probably good to regroup as you are doing tonight. It is not uncommon that with a new cushion that pressure points happen. Good for you that you found it quickly. I hope you contact the wheelchair clinic/group as soon as possible to remap your seating and find the pressure areas on the cushion.

Sorry about your string of problems. I also am having a bad day (and week). Let's hope we have better days soon.

    It stops when you die!

With a handshake and a nod my Dr. said to me "Welcome to Hell." If that wasn't bad enough I'm finding it only gets worse with age. I'm 63 now and look forward to dying soon, so to answer your question when does it stop? It stops when you die. Try to enjoy the little things for as long as you can. I sleep a lot and have wonderful dreams where there are no problems, so l got that going for me.
Just another tricky day. C5/6 incomplete, 43 years out.

    You'll get through.

    Ouch.

I hit an uneven piece of curb-cut this morning and flew forward from my chair ... I was on my way to the groomer's with my cat. Had her wrapped in a towel - which was good - because I chose me over her on my way down while her carrier skidded across the pavement.

She's fine. Shaken but not stirred.

I bent my thumb back and my lower back is killing me.

Just healed up wounds caused by my defunct bladder and still nursing my left foot, now the right too as I injured it today.

This was my week off - two weeks of midnights coming up.

The stars and planets were not aligned this week for either of us, lol.

I suspect that foley will give you AD. Hope not, but that's what I'd bet on so be prepared.

We persevere because the only other option sucks - for now.

I've had a foley for about ten years now. My best advice to you is make sure the doc shows you how to flush it. Do not leave without knowing. It's very easy to do, but you must know how.

WTF, I switched from a Ride Designs to a Stimulite Conctoured in hopes it would help ease some of my back and hip pain. That might have actually happened the verdict is still out as to whether it's the cushion switch or warmer weather, I'm thinking it's probably a combination of both.

I purchased the cushion out of pocket so I didn't get pressure mapped. Not the brightest things to do I know but I was desperate for some relief and made the change. The good news this morning the marks seemed to be getting smaller and not as a red.
I'm starting to wonder if they were made by something other than the cushion I just don't know what and if they haven't disappeared by Monday I will head overe to a rehab center in a nearby town that has a seating specialist who I'm sure will give me the once over. She's been on vacation this last week go figure and it's no use going to my doctor's office they don't have a table I could get onto to be examined.

DMR1105, thanks for the well wishes they mean a lot!

SCI-Nurse I hope things look better for you soon a lot of the time those of us with SCI forget that those taking care of us have it rough as well.

Tall Paul, I can understand where you're coming from at 47 I'm really not sure how much longer I want to keep going through this Shit. I do still have some really good days and when good sleep comes with those wonderful dreams it's such a blessing. On the other hand I have a SCI friend who is 70 and has been through hell and continues to go through it.

I DON'T WANT TO BE HIM IN 20 YEARS!!!

lynnifer, for starters how about a nice gentle hug in hopes it makes you feel a little better. And boggles my mind how we have to constantly be aware of the smallest of things that can turn our lives upside down no pun intended. Ha ha
I hope you're healed up an feeling better soon.
You mentioned that you think a foley cath might give me AD is there a reason you believe this is that what's happened to you?
I really hope not 'cause a weekend is not the best time to start dealing with crap I know nothing about.

TheRainman, it's not getting done in a doctor's office they are sending A Home Health Care nurse to my home tomorrow to put it in I hope she has a flush kit to leave with me.
How often does yours get clogged and having had one for 10 years do you get a lot of uti's?
Any Advice for a rookie? Do you have yours hooked to a leg bag during the day and night bag for sleeping?

Well anyway ... it's not unusual for me to be juggling more than one issue at any given time. I've just learned to deal with it, but yeah it's frustrating!

Can't imagine doing it all as a quad so kudos my friend!

It does seem that one goes from one issue to another.....I get healed from one thing, and then another blows up!

After several years of playing this game now, you would think I would wise up to it! And the older I get, I feel the worse things get too.

I hope things start to get better for you soon. Even sci needs a break sometimes!
