    stand mixers

Hey Bakers - what stand mixer works best for kneading dough. My kitchenaid started smoking and making noise when I had it kneading dough. So what do you guys use?

I used a breadmaker until it started smoking one day. I had a kitchenaid. It was a thirty year old hand me down, when mother in law got a new one. I gave it away eleven years later, and it still could knead dough fine.

Im kinda surprised you had a problem. I guess they don't make kitchenaids like they used to.

Hey --------------! (Insert one of Todd's pet names here) it's probably just the brushes, and if you get them from Kitchen Aide you, yes you, can change them yourself. Towards the rear of the machine, on either side is 2 caps, unscrew, remove the old, and insert the new ones. As long as the armature isn't burnt, it's worth a try.

Yeah I think I know which name you was going for he he. I watched a youtube clip how to fix one of these mixers, it looked fairly easy, but this is my excuse to buy a new one. Looking at reviews on amazon, it seems like all have issues when working with dough. I'm leaning towards a Breville. Anyone have one.

I've been thinking about buying on of these - all the kitchen aids do this?

My kitchen aid is probably 10 years old and I have never had any problems. It is probably because mine has flames: http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Mix-Ki.../dp/B000LTM1XE

Do you really have that on your kitchenaid? Thats pretty effin funny if you do.

I think my mixer is not in best shape since it fell on the floor. It works great at cakes and cookies but dough it definitely sounds sick.

Do they have other parts for this mixer? I'll have my dad take it apart and look around, but I think its toast.
