How to tell if you have foot drop?

If the range of motion is still there, does a person definitely not have it?

When my husband is lying in bed beside me, his feet point down more than mine do, but when I stretch him he still has full range I think.

How easy is it to get foot drop- he wears shoes most of the time and is up most of the day.

Foot drop exists when a persons ability for dorsiflexion is nonexistent. The condition is associated with nerve or muscle damage. If your husband can point his toes toward his head then I'd say he doesn't. If he can't you should have your doctor evaluate him. Foot drop is a symptom.

    (ps i know nothing)
