[QUOTE=crypticgimp;1663093]i guess i am not pretty! no trolls friend me lol but then my page is private, my photo is a nongimpy photo. so unless you know me, or know my friends(and even then) it's tough to find me[/QUOTE

As Erik said, being aware is the best method of prevention. He is talking about fakes friending us which is not a disability troll only issue. Hiding our photos, not making new friends, and not going to public events that benefit us..is simply letting them win. I will not hide and I think we need more images of us in media and advertising, not less. What is hard to find is more sought..when playboy is outlawed, people will still find these images, and do what they need to set up "private" coversive methods of getting them and sharing them.

You have shared images of you here on this site.which is a public page.and you have been a part of events and posted in advance, and were you not in a pageant? I do not think any of these things should be stopped. The actual real life danger is really being overplayed here (yes there are cases of stalking, but very rare and no more than in the non disabled community), and Erik is not trying to make us paranoid, yet just educate us as to not be fooled by fake profiles which in the worst case, end up making us feel foolish, angry and taken advantage of as we may share info and trust with someone who is not real.

Exactly. Risk is everywhere. The biggest risk is not taking any chances. Use good judgement and move on with life.

I know a couple of bondage s/m sites have childhood pictures of me in splints there is very little i can do about it. I know a person who worked for a major disability organization who offered his complete photo folder on line which includes pictures of me. The crossover between needing to wear splints and bondage and s/m is a common problem for thoseof us growing up with the need to wear them.

That is one of the most fucked-up things I have heard in a long time. I suppose since the pictures themselves are not individually pornographic there is no way to have them removed even though the context is. This sort of blatant and unwilling exploitation ... I'm sorry, I'm just to angry at this to write coherently

Regarding the question of why people friend strangers, here are my thoughts on that:

The Facebook user is not the customer. The user is the product.

Not to say that the user doesn't get anything out of it. I have connected with many old friends, old and new, which is great. Just understand what the other person's incentive may be to keep it in perspective.

Trollxting - The deceptive and creepy side of texting.

Given the variety of photos, it is clear that the woman featured is a wheelchair user. The problem is that these pictures have been stolen and being used to create a fake profile of a young woman with a spinal cord injury.

Most likely EMILY CHILDS is a man, who has a sexual fetish for seeing female wheelchair user's ankles and feet. To feed his fetish, he engages in Trollxting.

Trollxting involves getting women with disabilities to send photographs of themselves or their body parts. It requires creating trust through deception and preying upon the victim-woman's natural desire to help out a fellow female with a similar disability.

The conversation below is a Facebook chat session between an young woman with a spinal cord injury and a Disability Troll/Predator who is trying to get her to send her (HIM) photographs.
