    front loading washing machine.

For those that own these, does yours have a stale stagnent smell to it. I've tried those cleaning liquids for it, but it still has a smell to it. Anyone have a homemade solution that works better. Thanks

Stale, stagnant smell, huh? It's likely the guy you date.

Oh, wait! He's 2,000 miles away.

Don't hate Todd. You can't even keep a guy interested who lives 2 miles away. Remember, they take one look at you and spin right out the room. Whomp whomp.

Try running a load with bleach once a week.

I met him! He may have been shallow, but we met.

I've actually never let a guy come on my face. I'd make exceptions for an Adam Levine.

If a front loader is left closed all the time, mildew can grow in it. Leave the door ajar when it's not in use. The rubber seal will get a build-up of grunge under it - wipe around it, pushing up under the seal as far as you can (careful if you're using bleach - undiluted bleach might damage the rubber seal). Run the empty washer with bleach and a hot cycle.
You can also buy something like Affresh - put a tablet in the machine & run a hot cycle; Affresh also sells paper wipes (like babywipes - I bet they'd also do) to clean the door seal.

p.s. 2TiRods suggestion is good to keep it clean.

+1 on the seal. You would not believe the gunk that gets back there. Also, look in any of the places that you pour in fabric softener or detergent. A bottle brush can push through, follow it with very hot water.

Don't forget to look under and behind the machine.

And if you don't like using bleach, baking soda on a wet green pad is almost as good.
