C6 quad piano player, plays using sides of hands

OMG this guy is amazing! I really never thought it was possible to play anything more than chopsticks ir Heart & Soul after my injury (C6), but this guy is a C6 quad and can play full on songs, including the chords, all by very deftly using the sides of his hands. Crazy!

Watch the video of him here (playing U2's "With or Without You") http://www.spinalpedia.com//videodetails.php?vid=104055

And here's a link to my blog on two other very unexpected SCI skills - a paraplegic illusionist and a para who climbs ladders like its nothing: http://www.spinalpedia.com/blog/2012...-possible-huh/

    Wink

Hmmm... Now I kinda feel like a jerk-wad for all the hours I wasted leveling up in Call of Duty.

Way to make me feel bad, Theophania!

Yeah, he has been on Youtube for awhile. Plays some great songs.

Thanks some much for that link Theophania! He is amazing and while looking at his other videos I saw him driving a Go-kart so he is now helping me with whats involved with that as I've no chance of playing the piano!!!

Thanks, Tiff. That has me thinking about playing the piano in a different way. He's using his hands as mallets of a sort on the keys. That may not seem so different than fingers, but it's a mindset.

Also, most importantly for me, when I see anyone else using quad hands, it is affirming. I don't view others as odd so why look at myself that way? My hands are what they are, curled, twisted, parts not moving at all voluntarily. It's not the how of doing anything, but the getting it done that counts.
