    Sony KDL40EX640 and QAM Tuner?

I just picked up a new, 40" Sony KDL40EX640 LED HDTV. It was on sale for $599 at a Sony outlet near me.

Question; I stopped at the Comcast office (I hate these fuckers) to get a HD set top box. It is an extra $10/month. After looking more closely at the specs on the TV I realized it has an integrated "QAM Tuner" so I can apparently receive basic HD channels from Comcast. So will I also be able to get ESPN, CNBC, History, Comedy channels, etc.? I have to wait a couple days to have my brother set it up.

I would love to ditch the box and save a little dough each month. Thanks.

I don't think you would be able to receive any of the HD channels, just the basic

All the over the air signals via antenna or rabbitears these days are HD. My wife has a tuner in her all in one Gateway and can get all the local stations in HD with rabbit ears. Often cable, etc., squeeze down the bandwidth to 720 dpi or less to get more channels on.

Thx. My brother set it up and plugged the cable directly into the TV. I could only get a couple of Boston TV stations in HD and I am 25 miles away from Boston. So we ran it through the Comcast HDTV digital converter and got it set up properly. I was hoping I could save some a few bucks by not having to use the digital converter.
