Well, I've spoken to a few state agencies and it seems that there's waiting periods in the states I'd like to relocate to (AZ & NM), so I'm going to have to rethink my plan.

Colorado has no waiting list for the Elderly, Blind, and Disabled waiver. We are starting down the path to Community First Choice as well, hopefully we'll implement it in 2014.

Thanks. I want to get out of the snow & cold weather, and CO doesn't seem to fit that.

An update in case you rethink Florida in the coming cold months -- son, who already had Fla Medicaid and Medicare, applied for waiver program(s) and was accepted onto the wait list. There is now an estimated seven year wait for any waiver program service. I contacted our local center for independent living, they can only help us build a ramp we dont need or give us referrals we already have. I'm thinking Colorado might be nice!

I thought about Florida, but the humidity stopped me. I know, I sound fussy, but if I'm going to sell my house (which I spent a lot on modifying it and really don't want to sell it) and moving far away, I'm only going to do this once. )
