Thread: Curious about "average" markup or discounts

    Elarson,, I have been selling medical supplies for over 15 years , mainly with one big online medical supply store. I recently opened my own medical supply busienss. The standard is 30 % mark up on chairs. It doesnt mean thats what medical stores are going to receive like some one else stated before their chair was 4,500 and medicare only paid 2,200. If your dealing with insurance, most medical supply stores, that take assisgnment on your chair, means they have to accept what the insurance company considers reasonable and customary. Thats part of the contract , they have to sign to be able to sell to specific insurances.

    @nmireles, Do you happen to know if that 30% mark up is already factored into TiLite's MSRPs posted on order forms?

    In my view 30% mark up when you are receiving high level technical support is reasonable, and is similar to professional software industry.

    What I am trying to figure out is what the extra mark up (excluding taxes/shipping) I am seeing locally is for, if TiLite already includes the 30% mark up in their MSRPs.

    Partner of an incredible stroke survivor. Limitations: hemiparesis and neglect (functional paralysis and complete lack of awareness on one side). Equipment: TiLite ZRA 2 and 2GX, Spinergy ZX-1, RioMobility Firefly. Knowledge: relative newbie for high-level equipment (2012), but willing to try to help others who are new with similar limitations (definitely not a guru, but inquisitive).
