Thread: Space Shuttle Flyover

    Space Shuttle Flyover

All morning, we have been anticipating the San Francisco fly over of the space shuttle Endeavour. We had the television on and were watching a local station's live feed, but, just minutes ago, we heard the roar of a low flying jet. NL ran out to look and there it was... the 747 with the space shuttle riding piggy back flew right over our street. What a great sight. Sorry she didn't have time to grab her camera. Incredible. I was down the ramp and out the garage door, just in time to see an oblique side/tail view.

This sighting took us back to an air show at Edwards air force base in 1978 or 79 where we saw the shuttle perched on top of a parked 747 on the tarmac.

Can you imagine being on the streets of Los Angeles as the shuttle is trucked to the California Science Center where it will be on permanent display?!?!?!

    All the best,
    GJ

I was on the shuttle program though the entire program. Worked in the firing room during the Challenger disaster...was there from Enterprise to the demise of Columbia. It was a great career

While not as impressive as the photo "Timaru" posted, this pic was taken by my neighbor this morning.

    All the best,
