    Chad has pneumonia

My dad got sick with an upper respiratory thing recently, and he gave it to me, and I gave it to Chad about a week ago. He had a rough go of it initially but it wasn't too bad, and then he rallied and was doing quite a bit better .... until yesterday when he started coughing badly (or rather, trying to, as a high quad, he can't cough, I have to quad cough him) and he began coughing up blood! So off to the doctor we went and now he has pneumonia. He's on antibiotics and in our room with a vaporizer on high (it is a swamp in there!!) and we're hoping this will result in improvement sufficient enough to keep him out of the hospital. Keep him in your thoughts and send good mojo please.

    Hi Ami,

I am sorry to hear Chad is ill but I am sure he is in excellent hands. I kind of liked the "Swamp" remark.

Be assured we all wish the best for you both.

Note: I had that upper respiratory thing for about 3 weeks and I also shared with my wife.

Sucky news. I hope he bounces back quickly.

Among his immunizations, has Chad received the Pneumovax vaccine? It's part of my immunization profile, though it doesn't protect against every strain of pneumococcus. Regardless, I would suggest that everyone get it.

Ami, put attitudes aside for now.

Did the doctor hear and crackling or wheezing in his lungs?

Did the doctor order a chest x-ray? If not get one ordered and find out how extensive his pneumonia is? The left lung has 3 lobes and the right lung has 2 lobes. Find out how much is infected and which lobe. After the course of antibiotics get another chest x-ray done to see if the pneumonia is all cleared up. Twice a day pound on his back where the infection is for about 10-15 minutes. This will help loosen the crap in his lung(s) and help bring up the crap.

What color is he spitting out? Green is infection, brown is dead crap, clear yellow is good. Seek out a good pulmonologist just in case and be ready. He may have to go through several courses of antibiotics to clear it all up. Pray that he doesn’t get mucus plugs (pounding on his back helps loosen these mucus plugs up.). This may take a long time to clear up, months since we are entering cold and flu season.

Are his legs or ankles swelling?

Any anicteric sclera in his eyes?

    Any rashes any where?

    Hang in there!
