    Lie After Eating

After eating, how long do we have to wait till we can lie on bed?

Never heard that before... Since rehab, even while still in the hospital, I have a real bad habit of eating in bed. Before I got active I thought I would be Jabba the Hutt one day.

Do you have trouble swallowing or something causing slow digestion?

Maybe I didn't understand the question.

I do not understand either. People eat while lying in bed. It is probably a problem for people who have reflux or some similar problem, but otherwise it is not a issue.

For people with reflux issues, the generally accepted time is 3 hrs after eating. If you try lying on your side (esp your left side), you might be able to lie down sooner.

    Mutton,

How soon can we lie down if lying on side?

You should probably avoid reclining past 45° for about 45 min. after eating to avoid having a stomach full of food and liquid putting pressure on the valve that seals off your esophagus from the stomach. Once the food/liquid/stomach acid mixture regurgitates into the esophagus you can have a whole host of problems and which in the long run I believe has been shown to be so irritative to the lining of the esophagus that you are at increased risk of cancer.
