There's a warning posted at "Life After Spinal Cord Injury", on FB. It was posted, April 29, titled "Is Your Facebook "Friend" a Wheelchair Pretender?" It's a photo with testimonials from victims. One victim found her picture being posted to a "wheelchair fetish" website!!! I had NO idea there was such thing ...creepy!

If you haven't run across it yet, Life After Spinal Cord Injury, is a useful page to "like" on FB.

Incomplete, SCI, T1-T8, w/ Arachnoid Cyst. Bilateral shoulder surgeries, 2 on the left, 3 on the right, right forearm surgery for a crushed radial nerve.

That is exactly where devos and pretenders go looking for more people in wheelchairs so not sure it's the best page to "like" and be a part of.

I agree - good point and the point of the warning posted on LASCI's page. Personally, I don't interact with their FB page, but read what scrolls through the news feed. My settings, including photos, are private and I don't "friend" people I don't know well. I'm cyber shy! LOL

Anyone likes the Timeline feature in Facebook? I honestly don't get it.

I searched for many years for information on my sons rare medical condition, we never had an accurate diagnosis until I found some moms on FACEBOOK that were searching for the same information. One connection lead to another, we now have our own community, new doctors, a real diagnosis and more information on his condition. We've had family gatherings at hospitals. I have recently connected with another mom on FB, she is in the Phillippines, her son has the same condition as my son, I gave her the info for our specialists, these doctors are working together now, her son is getting better. I LOVE FACEBOOK!

This is what FB is about, sharing not gossiping!

    What's Facebook?

No, really, I like it for the most part.

It really annoys me when people post a million times a day just to hear themselves talk, or type to be more specific.

Like Charlotte's Web, I originally signed up on facebook to keep an eye on what my then middleschool aged daughter was doing. She turns 21 this year, so it has been a while!

After several years of only seldom using it, I found it great to get back in tough with old high school/college friends, and a few others I had lost track of. And I still keep track of my kids! I find it fun to see little updates that they tend to post. And there are several friends I made on CC that don't post here much, but are on fb.

But like Eileen said, you just don't post things that you don't want the world to see! I don;t have my telephone number or address listed anywhere on fb for example. But I admit, if you look carefully, you will see that I love cats too, altho I don;t think you could find my political leanings.

gjnl .... I haven;t seen that fb resets your privacy settings, but what you have to watch for is new features .... they always seem to default to public. And for anyone on fb, you have to keep in mind, that "friends of friends" is just about the same as public!

I also don't use any of the apps, as they can access whatever info you do have there (altho obviously, they can access anything you haven't put there in the first place.) ANd I haven;t found any worth using.

My biggest problem with fb is that it is almost as much as a time-suck as CC.
