Device gives hope to victims of spinal cord injuries

That's what Dr. Young is saying to us all the time.

    quote:

"It turns out in the spinal cord, if you can spare just 10 percent of the spinal cord, so you don't have to spare 50-80 percent, a little bit spare 10 percent, the spinal cord itself will rewire, and find that healthy tissue, and send it's signal through the scar," said InVivo CEO Frank Reynolds.

Researchers are hoping a new device could head off paralysis in patients with spinal cord injuries. It's designed to be implanted directly on the damaged area within days after trauma. It should offer neuroprotection against the cascade of events happening in acute injuries. They're trying to control the bleeding and inflammation in fresh injuries so that's why they use 48 hour injury primate models.

This guy might be one of the most ridiculous jokers I've ever seen. "Long story short - I got myself walking again." WOW - I wish I had realized it was this easy. Why didn't someone tell me that all I had to do was some research and I could get myself walking again. And then have a "pretty spectacular career". This guy isn't proud of himself or anything. Someone please tell me what his exact injury was that caused his paralysis.
