Thread: What do you think of this gadget? Possibilities?

  1. #21
As people have noted, there are potential limitations and drawbacks, but I applaud the company for bringing to market a new product that can potentially improve quality of life for some paralyzed people. And it certainly looks like a great product, despite the potential limitations.

Just my two cents. No worries.
Wheelchair users -- even high-level quads... WANNA BOWL?

    I'm a C1-2 with a legit 255 high bowling game.

Really not a lot different from these, which are a lot less expensive:

    Or this one

These are the reasons we rarely use a stand-up transfer devices with persons with SCI as well. There are already less expensive mobile standing frames on the market, but none of them are practical for use outdoors either.

looks like it'd be useless on anything but a flat surface... interesting idea but utterly useless for most imho ... but I'm happy to learn I can't piss or crap because I've been sitting too long... silly me I thought it was because I have neuro damage.....

who here stands for a least 1 hr per day as they said? I haven't stood in 20 years

Missed one. Should be #5. Unless you counted B&B as one.

It is not good for a para or quad to be standing for more than an hour MAX. Unless they were newly injured and still had good bone strength, then this could be good for an office worker for occasional use.

what kind of coffee/hot water kettle was that?

basic wheelchair concept and design has remained unchanged for centuries. something to be said for that.

While I agree with others that this device has limitations, and it certainly won't make wheelchairs obsolete, it does have some intriguing features. I'm glad whenever any company invests time and talent to produce a product to mitigate disability. This device may be the best solution to someone's need. If not, they will look elsewhere.
