CarlR I am one step ahead of you... maybe more?
I'll post when I hear back from Dr. Cheng.

High profile patients are a boon to the field. I'm wondering if the Taiwanese have considered OEG. And does anyone know if the first lady ever received Cheng's procedure?

1st Lady did NOT receive Cheng's procedure.

She is probably waiting for version 2.0

I haven't gotten any response yet but don't worry, I didn't forget. I'll give it a few more days and try again.

does this put a more positive spin on your realistic predictions of 20 years? I am not asking this is as mockery, but am interested to see if your outlook has changed regarding long-term sci therapies

    Bent,

Yes, my outlook has changed. My formal prediction (on a prior post) was 7-10 years. I "think" it will happen in less than 10. I spoke with a researcher (someone that was active and fluent) at Reeve-Irvine a few days ago. They are making rapid positive progress. Stem cell research is happening for SCI in the USA in a big way.

There will be few if any injuries that make it to the chronic stage in roughly 5 years or less. Chronics, as stated above, have a good chance of being significantly helped, hopefully within 5-7 years. Today would be fine with me!!

    Schmeky and mk99,

why waste the time in searching of the info on therapies that are concentrated on curing acute injuries? Look at this thread:

    Duran,

Thanks, I somehow did not see this article. I have not heard anything about this alledged collaboration. Craig has partnered with Proneuron, which means they have the GMP/GLP lab.

What this article does point out is the fact that ESC research and federal funding have not been cut off in the US.

Does anyone know any more about this?
