Lyrica/Gapaprentin did nothing for my neuro pain. Methadone works for me, of course looking at your sig... there is no drinking with the methadone.

wheelin - may I ask you how much lyrics per day you take and how long you have been on your current dose? Do you take any other pain meds? Opiates? Elavil?

That's what I'm told about the Oxy's and morphines too, but I've never had any issues with it.

wheelin48, have you tried anything prior to lyrics? I tried gabapentin (3600mg daily) for severe pain in my hip unfortunately it was of no help. I have a doctor's appointment Friday with a new pain specialist, my previous one informed me last month she was moving to Colorado March 1 and I was going to ask about lyrica. However I'm leery of wasting a lot of time on it if it's not going to work plus it's a lot higher in price.

I so hope you find something to help alleviate your pain! It's taken what I thought was an exciting and carefree life and turned it into a living hell..

Wheelin - the answer to your question whether 100 mg/day of Lyrica should be working by now is a resounding - no.

That is a tiny dose. Your doctor should increase your dose right now to 75 mg three times a day for 2 weeks. And then if there is no response, he/she should increase it up to 150 mg 3 times a day (as long as you are tolerating the inevitable side effects) before throwing in the towel. For an adult, the maximum that can be taken is 450 to 600 mg of Lyrica a day. That is 5x more than you are on. The reason why you should be certain before you blow off the drug is that there are so darn few meds that may work, you really should give them a fair shot.

I hear a lot of people here say, "Oh , nothing works for my neuropathic pain ... I have tried them all...." That may be true or possibly they did not give each agent an adequate trial before crossing them off the list.

Just my opinion, and don't take specific medical advice by someone like me over the Internet. Just some food for thought. I wish you luck.

BTW, who is prescribing the Lyrica for you, a GP, FP, internist, pain specialist?
