Cool. It could be a real boon for some people but I don't know how the cost could ever come down so that it would be generally available. Then again, handheld lasers used to cost $200 and not can be gotten for 50 cents. Don't know if I'll live long enough to see the cars everywhere but it's exciting. Thanks for the story :-)

Yes! This is the future not just for us but the idjits that insist on multitasking while driving $80,000. is a lot of money but sounds reasonable comparing to a fully adapted van for a high quad. I so hope this comes to fruition in my time!

Driving is an enormous waste of productivity for ANYBODY.

Can't wait to see this nonsense relegated to computers.

We agree, owning your every living minute is the ultimate maximization of share price. Just a warning to everyone about your privacy and what some companies know about you - and what they do with that data.

Of course, google is evil. You're not a customer. You're a product. Being a product is something that I believe every person who uses a wheelchair has or will figure out at some point.

    Now it's everybody.

In the context of driverless cars, google is not a monopoly nor is it my enemy. Enemies are strange things that can shift depending on the subject matter.

They managed to convince the U.S. state to allow driverless car research under real world conditions. It's not limited to google and I believe it's not even limited to corporations.

Get through the bureaucracy and you can tinker with a driving robot on the road.

I remember seeing self-driving cars in Popular Mechanics magazine back in the '50s
