    Vacation near Tampa Florida

Leaving Saturday on my first trip since injury, 6 years ago.
I'll be in Madeira Beach for a week.
Any tips or ideas to help make it a decent trip?

I'll be in West Palm next week Rich, have a great time!
Not sure what there is to do in Tampa. Bush Gardens there?

Go to Larry's Giant Subs on US19 in Pinellas Park. I'll be in that area in a few weeks and always stop there at least once.

Oh, and drive down 19 to see the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It's pretty amazing.

Thanks everybody. What a great list, Crashbang.

We went to the Dali Museum. Great building. The art needs someone to help interpret. We should have done a guided tour.

We wanted to see the Mermaids at Weekiwachee but didn't.

Met up with my sister, niece and her little boy who live in Florida. We all went up to Pine Island for a beautiful sunset. I locked the keys in our rental car. Called AAA as the skies turned black with rain. Then a good seafood dinner nearby.

I found a recreation center in St. Petersburg with a Shark handcycle to rent. We went to
Fort Desoto Island to ride. Next day we rode on the Panellas Trail.

Went to a disabled sailing center on the waterfront in St. Petersburg. Was able to lower myself from my wheelchair to the boat gunnel. Sailed in an 18' sailboat with the instructor- pretty cool!

Also went to a power plant where the hot water discharge attracts a lot of manatees.

Good idea bdphil- We did go over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. We had the convertible top down with the heat on (it was evening) and I turned up the volume on the radio.

So it was a pretty good trip.
