Guillain-Barré is a demyelinating disease of peripheral nerve. I recently received an email asking the following question. I thought that I would post my answer here because others may be asking a similar question:

Has anyone had Guillon barre, my husband had it and is now recovering but he still cannot pee so they have inserted a supra pubic catheter will he eventually regain the ability to pee on his own? Please help???
Bladder dysfunction can occur with Guillain-Barré (GB) disease. *About a quarter of patients who have GB suffer from micturition difficulties (inability to urinate). *The following link is a 1997 study describing what happened to 7 patients who had such problems. All of them recovered.
