    Foot neuropathy

Recently I have been having terrible neuropathy in my feet. Can't seem to find a way to deal with it. I am taking 2100mg of gabapentin daily, which doesn't seem to help. Cold weather makes it much worse. Any suggestions?

    hello,
Are you accurate that you are taking 2100mg gabapentin daily?
Some people find increased pain relief by adding amitryptiline at nighttime to their gabapentin regime. This is an old medication previously used for depression but as an adjunct to other neuropathic pain meds, it helps many people.

If cold makes pain worse, make sure you are wearing layers on your feet for warmth.

I understand your frustration, cold weather also bothers my neuropathy in my feet. My pain Doctor switched me to Lyrica and I think it is working better. My feet feel like they weigh 50# and walking is difficult.

Does it bother you to wear shoes? That was a big struggle for me.

The nurse has a good idea keep your feet warm in this cold weather. Best of luck to you.

My Neuropathy goes above my knees and in my hands also...I backed of Neurotin from 1800 mg to 600 a day. Tried to go to zero...but the pain sets in...so I'm maintaining 600. It just makes me sleep earlier. Fortunately I don't have much neuropathy pain...my manifestation is the numbness and paralysis

Make sure that you read the associated side-effects of Lyrica. There are some crazy ones - like possible birth defects, etc.

neurontin is the brand name, gabapentin the generic/actual drug name.

I am not paralyzed. I have a genetic connective tissue disorder with neuro complications and a movement disorder.
