The springs are not the most accessible dive sites...Ginnie Springs and Alexander Springs are the best bet. I use my hand crutches when I dive so I can access most. Many springs are sink holes, a depression in the ground with a fairly steep incline and stairs. Once you are at the spring, entries are pretty basic and easy. There are operations with pontoon boats that will take you up to the spring head, drop you off, let you drift and pick you up after the dive (Rainbow River).

    scuba training in SW FL

Any recommendations for instructors/programs in the Ft. Myers area. I'll be down there next month for an extended stay. I'd like to give it a try.

    diving with spinal nerve issues

I had been an active diver, but am concerned now that I have been diagnosed with a syrinx and peripheral neuropathy issues - will the pressure at depth be any risk factor?
I have also hesitated to dive because I don't feel I can walk with scuba equipment on the boat - just not stable enough.
