Thread: So I went to the VA

  1. #11
    KLD,
Will check on it. Thank you!!

    Trekker6,
KLD is correct, contact your local PVA, National Services Officer first. They will help you get the ball rolling. There are certain steps you have to officially go through and there are other steps that will help you get into the VA a lot quicker because of your SCI/D (Priority Group 4).

Good luck and if you have any problems email me.

    Enrique

The closest VA to Merritt Island is in Vierra. For major issues you will be sent to Orlando or Tampa. Transportation is provided, if neccessary.

I don't know what is there. My father's care-giver was a marine. He gets all his primary care in Vierra. When he needs special testing he goes to either Orlando or Tampa.

Where are you on MI? My Dad's house is near 520 and Sykes Creek. Love that island!!

1 mile north of 520, off tropical trail, canal in the backyard going to the river, last year, caught a 24" trout after 15 minutes, never knew trout could fight that hard, haven't been out since the injury.

Viera has a SCI outpatient (support or "spoke") clinic, but not a SCI inpatient unit (center or "hub"). They would refer you to Tampa for anything that you need from a specialty SCI center, including doing your annual evaluation.

Here is the contact for that clinic:

    Viera Outpatient clinic
    Phone: 321-637-3788 or 1-877-878-8387

Your PVA NSO (in Tampa) is here:
    Tampa VAMC

    13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd Rm CO52-38
    Tampa, FL 33612
    813-978-5841
