I hope this is the correct place to post something like this. I saw this article on the Well Blog of the New York Times, and it mentions that people are using the fundraising/startup website IndieGoGo to fundraise for serious health problems. Specifically, there is a man mentioned in the article who is from Brooklyn who is trying to raise $26,000 on the site for costs associated with a recent SCI.

I went on the site this morning and donated $10 (I'm poor) to a campaign for a woman with a traumatic brain injury. It is sad that the state of our health care system necessitates some people fundraising over the internet. However, it looks like such campaigns have been very successful for some people.
