Hi all!

I am wondering if anyone else has had the same conditions as I. I have degenerative disc disease. Three years ago I fell, broke my left arm and apparently, started my neck degenerating rapidly. I had an ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) C4-7 a few months after the fall. Now I have spinal cord compression at C3 and am told that I need a laminotomy/laminectomy to decompress the spinal cord, as I am exhibiting signs of spinal cord injury already.

My understanding from several doctors, is that in time I will become quadraplegic. Slowly but surely, as my discs deteriorate, there will be more and more compression on the spine. My future appears to be of surgeries - trying to deal with the degeneration as it occurs - and losing function.

Has anyone else gone through this? What has your journey been like? (Yes, I realize each journey is different. Just looking for an idea of what I'm up against here.)
