    Hi KLD,

Thanks for all you have done for us and especially me. You're like our "Judge Judy". I hope you will celebrate here with us many more years.

I hope you have a great day!

Back from Catalina. I had a great time. The town is fairly w/c accessible, although I did not see consistent use of curb cuts around town. There were quite a few elderly people using wheelchairs and rolling walkers. Never saw a power chair or scooter. The Casino (really a movie theater & ballroom) is accessible, but the ramps going from floor to floor must be about 11-12 degrees....a hard push unless you have someone to help. These are in the original design and supposed to be like the ramps at Wrigley Field. The Wrigleys still own the casino although they gifted the rest of the island to the Catalina Island Conservancy nearly 20 years ago. I did the Casino Tour. The theater is lovely, and the ballroom (where they are currently running the Jazztrak jazz festival) is also lovely.

I did not see any tour buses with lifts, but did not ask (of course by ADA regs this would be required). I took an inland island tour and saw some of my old stomping grounds.

The last day (yesterday) I took the zip line. This was a first for me, and I was scared, but loved it and would do it again! The longest stretch was nearly 1/4 a mile, and it is over a wild canyon down to the beach area, the former site of the lovely St. Catherine hotel where we stayed when I was a child. It is now a private beach club.

The boat over (Catalina Express from Dana Point) was accessible both for loading and within the boat, except for the head, but the crossing is only 1.5 hours at most. It was smooth both ways this trip.
