    ethernet/pci adapter

what is it? yes, I've googled, but to me, the information I got was no help. (I swear that stuff is written in whatever language the blue people spoke in Avatar).

I just got a wireless router, so my pc and wii/tv are wireless, so do I need this thing? It's unopened and was shoved in a drawer, so I'm assuming I've passed it technologically?

a pci ethernet card is just a rj-45 plug that gives your seaktop pc a connection to the internet, you would put it in your pci slot on the MB of the desktop for internet with a straight thru cable to your wireless router, or nat, i would assume if your computer isnt very old it should already have that built into the MB, unless it has an antenna then of course it would be a wirelss pci adapter and make you desktop wireless.....maybe u need it to make it wireless would be the only thing i would say it would be needed, of course unless you MB doesnt have an rj-45 jack.....maybe that will help you a little......

You want it if you can plug directly into your wireless router. It makes the internet go faster.

using the ethernet cable is alot faster and reliable
if the router is next to your computer, stick that in and run a cable from it to the router

but like someone said, if you have a newer computer, there's probably already a ethernet port on it, like a phone jack but wider
