    Constipation or worse

My stomach has been bloated for several days. I have also been passing a lot of gas and have thrown up a few times yesterday and once this morning. It was just a small amount of yellow stuff that I threw up this morning. I just ate and now feel like I need to throw up. I'm to the point of not wanting to eat because of feeling naseous. I had a small BM yesterday (Tuesday). That was the first one I have had since last Wednesday night.

I have taken some laxatives because that's all I have in my apartment to help me go. I usually have a large BM after taking laxatives, but that hasn't been the case this time. I have never gotten to this point of throwing up or feeling like I need to throw up before when I haven't had a BM in awhile. This concerns me that I could be impacted, but I don't know what to do about it. I don't want to go to the ER because the one closest to me is very small and doesn't do a lot. I have been twice in the past two months so I don't want to go back.

I did buy some Mag. Cit. but I haven't taken any of it yet. It said on the bottle that it may interfere with medication and it also warned not to take if you have kidney problems. I have had kidney problems in the past but as far as I know they are fine now. I'm concerned about taking that without talking to a dr first, but I don't currently have a dr. because his office just closed last week.

I want to know what to expect if I do go to the ER though. I figured around here they'd just tell me to take some enemas or something and not really do anything for me in the ER. There's no point of going if that is the case. But it concerns me if they would want to give me an enema. I wear a foley catheter and it concerns me that something could get contaminated in the ER.

Go to the ER and tell them you might have a bowel impaction. Make sure they do an x-ray and a rectal exam, as well as feel (palpate) your stomach. They should give you a gentle enema there and make sure everything is moving out ok and make sure you can keep food down before they release you. Don't wait any longer. A severe untreated impaction is dangerous. This isn't going to go away, it will only get worse if untreated. Go to the ER.

Ordinarily, I would say take small amounts of the Citro Mag throughout the day until the avalanche starts. But I have to agree that the ER is a great idea

Is the Magnesium Citrate that I should use in a clear glass bottle? That's what I bought yesterday. Is it supposed to be refrigerated before using? Should I take a lot at once or divid the doses up? It says to take either way. It's a 10oz bottle and says don't take more than 10oz in 24 hours. I think I'm going to take some of that and use a fleet enema this evening and see if they help. If they don't I'll go to the ER in the morning or later tonight.

My bowels finally started moving shortly after my last post. It wasn't hard but it also wasn't completely watery either. I'm sure I still have quite a bit in me, but at least it's starting to come out. I plan on still using the magnesium citrate or fleet enema in the morning if I don't have any more BMs tonight. At this point going to the ER may be a waste of time and money because my bowels are moving now and it's not extremely hard stool coming out either.

Please make sure that you get checked out, even if you move your bowels! You could get some of it out and end up impacted again. Ask for a flat plate of the abdomen. That will let them know where the stool is ( or hopefully isn't). Once you are cleaned out, you need to start your bowel program again and try to figure out what went wrong. An impaction is nothing to fool around with!!!

My Dr Friends Told me to drink Magnesium citrate and let it work ...
I always keep bottles of Magnesium Citrate in my kitchen closet .
We used to call it clear crystal in the old day's Model lingo lol
When I was younger I was a binge eater and alway's had bowel issues .
@ 6'1 I weiged 139 lbs I was belemic sometimes it was rough but I always got contipated and drank clear and it would usually work ...
My point is Dont get impacted

Eat fiber Drink things like warm apple cider Tea etc... Warm liquids help immensely

Do you use any Castor Oil ?
I use it every 2 day's and pretty much no problems ..
Chase it down with a soda pop and in a few hours usually you will empty out .

Good luck I hope you feel better

I'm calling a doctor in the morning to hopefully get an appointment soon. But this is just a regular family physician. This dr. would be okay to go for ordinary things, but I probably need to find a dr. that specializes in Spina Bifida. It's been a few years since I've been to a SP specialist because I just haven't dealt with specific health issues relating to that. The bad thing is the closest SP specialists are a couple hours away.

There is one Gastro dr. in my town, but I don't know if he could help me with my constipation problems and help me get on a bowel program.

The Bowel Program is the hardest part ... It took me 2 yrs to find a Balancing point .

The Gastro Dr's scare me as any foreighn object put up the sensitve thin intestines I do not want to worry about someone accidentaly ruptured

I had x rays etc but I do not want a metal probe up my Rectum

If they ever have to do this to me I want to be under anesthesia

I decided to go ahead and use the fleet enema this evening. I put it in about an hour ago. I did like it said on the box and left it for 10 minutes then got on the toilet to try going and nothing came out. How long could it take for it to start working?
