Someone may have mentioned this already, but you can book online for a good rate then call the property for an accessible room. Just say, "I just booked a room online and I want to make sure it's WC accessible. If you're more than a few days in advance that should work fine - it has for me.

A few years ago I booked online and found out it would have been cheaper to walk in and ask for a room.

I wish I could just walk in and get a room. Due to limited number of accessible rooms(especially if requesting roll-in shower). Most can't rely on finding a place to stay at the last minute.

Correct. And under the ADA, you have the right to book your rooms the same way anyone else; Hilton just got in trouble with the DOJ for this. But yes, it's always good to double check directly with the hotel after you book online. And like Scott said, AAA membership can save you money, too.
