Thread: Baclofen pump and bowel issues

    Baclofen pump and bowel issues

I'm slated to have a baclofen pump trial in early Oct, and hopefully follow that with the insertion of the actual pump a few weeks later. My question is this- have any of you with pumps had bowel accidents following the procedure? Luckily I'm accident free, even when there's a jumper in the door, and want to keep it that way. So- does it affect your sphincter pressure and bowels?

    Thanks
    Dave

    Hey Herco,

This is one area it does not seem to affect, at least for me. Still got an insanely tight sphincter, wears my hand out doing dig stim. So it shouldn't affect you I would hope.

It shouldn't effect your bowels, but I would double check with your doctor.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping as much, since I didn't see it addressed in other pump threads. Loose bowels are my worst nightmare at this point.

Hopefully the test goes well in a few weeks!

Good to hear Dave. I remember my trial, and what a relief it was to not worry about getting spasm'd out of my chair. Best of luck.
