Thread: Who and what to fund?

    Who and what to fund?

Since there are many potential therapies that needs founding I would like people to say what they think.

Which research that you know about should have more priority in funding?

We could try to divide the potential therapyes by stage:

    1) clinical trials, for ex.
    - Neural stem inc, neural stem cells for chronic SCI
    - BioAxon, cethrin for acute SCI
    - UCB + Lithium Dr. Young for chronic SCI
    - Idrogel + BMSC Dr. Sykova for chronic SCI

    2) pre clinical devlopment, for ex.
    - GDA-BMP astrocite, Dr. Davies
    - Decorin, Dr, Davies
    - Chondroitinase- Acorda/Fawcett
    - HESCH Dr. Keirstad
    - IPS dr. Horner

    3) basic research, for ex.
    - P-Ten/M-TOR Dr. He

I think we need to make a post with a complete list of the best therapies/the most promising ones to make it easy for the people to know how to maximize their donations. And it should be actualized regularly with new info and their status.
-Ramps in buildings are necessary, but it would be usefull to have another ones for people (mind/heart).....

The ChinaSCINet (and the related networks) is likely to yield the quickest results and is actually aimed at testing different therapies in proper clinical trial settings.

And then the best pure science studies that are providing the data for the clinical trials.

Good idea. Maybe with phase statuses and the amount of money needed to make it to the next stage. I like Dr. Young's analogy of the networks being the race track and the potential treatments being the cars. What cars will we sponsor to put on the track? The majority of info is on here we just need an organizational strategy to cull the material

I was wondering when someone was going to come up with a post like this. Finally something positive and constructive....

Paolo, your list is a good start

I agree with Chaz19, we need to organize the potential therapies with where they are at in the development stage and the costs and time frames associated with getting them to the next stage.

I also agree with Lynnifer about adding Nerve Grafting like Dr. Silver is doing.

Chaz, you do spread sheets correct? Would you have time to develop this one?
