    Wheelchair paragliding

Is this real? It looks real. Be pretty cool if it is.

Video shows a man in Finland assembling and then taking off and flying in a "Flychair".

I often wondered if this was possible. I couldn't quite pick up on how the tow line worked though. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I talked with a friend of mine who works with gliders and he says it's a winch launch in the video and yep, he says it's all real. Very cool :-)

Wow long ride. What was the vertical feet. My nephew took us up a practice hill, 250 feet high. We took turns floating down solo. It was fun. Took a little over a minute to get down. (pre. SCI)
    Glad you could go flying.

Bald Mountain (9150 feet, 2789 m) is a mountain in adjacent to the city of Ketchum, Idaho. "Baldy" is the primary ski mountain of the Sun Valley ski resort.
With a base elevation of 5750 feet (1753 m) along the Big Wood River at River Run, Baldy's vertical drop is 3400 feet (1036 m) along its northeast face.

Here are a couple of videos from the AblePilot PVA training camp in Sun Valley this week.

There are some blog entries on

    http://www.ablepilot.com/

They used winch launches for the solo training and rolled off the mountain for the tandem flights.
The first hops were done by hand towing, i.e. the pilots were pulled along by a couple of people pulling on the tow rope.

And as for figuring out how the line works, it's really simple - there is a car
or a winch engine on the other end. Ever seen kids runing with kites? That's it, the paraglider is the kite

    Here is my launch

And here is the other end point of view (sorry you won't understand a word)
