Are We Alone In the Universe? New Analysis Says Maybe

Scientists engaged in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) work under the assumption that there is, in fact, intelligent life out there to be found. A new analysis may crush their optimism.

Statistically we are not alone in the universe.

However, to all intents and purposes we are completely alone.

The sheer vastness of time and space between ourselves and the next form of life is so massive as to render their existence completely irrellevent.

...at least that's what I think...

Disproportion of what we know about the Universe
and our willingness to explain the Universe is disturbingly cute.

"A new analysis says 'maybe'" - this is not news; the answer has always been 'maybe'.

Regardless of how much or how little life there is in the vastness of the universe, Earth is the only home we've got. All the more reason to appreciate it and take care of it the best we can.

I personally have not met anyone who claimed to be from some far away place BUT after reading the newspapers and watching the news there are some far out asssholes among us who just might be.

I use to enjoy this debate, but not so much anymore. Too many more important things to solve on this little planet. There is no way to prove a negative in the infinite of space and until we receive some sort of message or visit from an intelligence not of this Earth there is no proof to the positive. Personally, I believe there is, but for now it's a bit of a moot point.
