    father has 'Radiation Myelitis'

Please help any information would be helpful.

In 2007 my father was diagnosed with cancer and treated at the U of MD he had 5 weeks of radiation 5 days each week and one day each week chemo. Now in 2009 he began to have issues urinating and joint problems in December of 2009 Dad fell and rushed to the hospital where after weeks of test it was found that dad has 'Radiation Myelitis'. Is there any cure for this? Please any info would help us.

    clhmkg,

At the present, there is little that can be done for radiation myelitis that has occurred. I just did a search of clinical trials of therapies for radiation myelitis on www.clinicaltrials.gov and saw only one therapeutic trial, i.e. cetuximab, that is given at the time of the radiochemotherapy. I don't see anything that is being used after the radiation myelitis occurred, to restore function.

    Wise.
