    Spadfan is at peace

My precious husband, Bill, AKA Spadfan, died peacefully at 04:20 this morning. I am numb and my heart is broken. We both appreciated the supportive posts. He loved the get well cards he got...our son read them to him. I was with him at the end and for that I am grateful.

We had discussed many issues over the years including what to do when this time came. There is an organization in Colorado and Arizona called Science Care. We opted to do a full body donation to them. They asked questions to determine what program he will best help. In several weeks, they will send me his cremains. I did make sure the representative knew that if there are any studies on the effects of aging and disease on a person with long term paralysis, those would be, IMNSO, the best match.

Again, thanks for all the kind words of support over these long 2 weeks.

Betty (Quiltcrazy & proud to have been and always be Mrs. Spanfan)

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing, Betty.
It was very generous to donate to Science Care; it's a good thing that you discussed it earlier, and that you remembered at the critical time when you are so upset - I didn't remember about donation for my Carolyn, and I regret it.
How old is your son? It will be a great comfort to have him with you.
Start thinking about a memorial ceremony of some sort - it will help to keep your mind full. Write down some stories about your life together, that can be read at the memorial, and get his friends to do the same.
My deepest condolences to you both,
    - Richard
