    7 Months post-op

    Hi everyone,

i suppose seven months isnt all that new, but i have just recently found this site. July 22nd my back finally called it quits. i didnt think i could break myself, i was wrong. thought i could finish the season working with a herniated disc, it blew and i'm left with cauda equina syndrome. just had my six month meeting with a sci specialist who pretty much told me i'm toast and had reached my mmi. this is all happing very fast. i guess the more i'm on my feet the more im tearing up my joints. i been told maybe i should use a chair part time. makes sense to me but i just cant wrap my head around it yet. i have also stopped all my meds, and i'm not all that comfortable. i understand the pain will probably get worse so i kinda want to hold off for now. right now i wish i could jump past (well scoot past) all the w/c,ssi ssdi, stuff that is way over my head, and get on with life. i wish i would have found this site sooner. i have already given the site info to the p.t.s, where i do therapy. every hospital should have a pamplet. thanks for all your posts, i have learned a ton.

Welcome, it's great that you've found this forum. Seven months is still pretty early in your rehab, so don't give up hope of feeling better. All the best to you.

Good luck, we were all in the same situation as you at one time. It will work out. I'm kind of in the same sit. with my shoulder; it's just a matter of time before I have to use a power chair and am scared bigtime of the change. I know I'll get thru it but the unknowns are always the big bugaboo in our minds.

Stay strong and connected with us here. We all care deeply about you and hope we can help you thru this.
